Sparks fly at all-candidates debate

Candidates for the Belleville municipal election gathered to explain their platforms to the public and exchange subtle barbs with one another Wednesday night.

     The most emotional reaction from the crowd came from subtle animosity between two of the three mayoral candidates: Mary-Anne Sills and Neil Ellis, who had a close race in the last municipal election three years ago. Full Story

Canadian astronaut visits students
The first Canadian to walk in space, visited students at Centre Hastings Secondary School in Madoc Oct. 26 to talk about his experiences working with the Canadian Space Agency.

Broken pipe causes early pool closure at Sir James Whitney
Winter aquatic programs will be canceled since the pool at the Joe Demezsa Sports Centre at Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf has been closed indefinitely due to a pipe breaking last spring. It is not known when or if the pool will be opened.

'Ghosts and goblins' to take part in 'Boo-La-Thon' for Kids Help Phone
Ghosts, and goblins and bowling shoes, oh my!

Belleville Pro Bowl is celebrating Halloween a little differently this year. To help raise money for Kids Help Phone, they are hosting Quinte's first Boo-La-Thon on October 29.
