Martin Veilleux, a nine-year trucking veteran, agrees there should be speed limiters in transport trucks. He believes that they will increase safety on the 400 series highways.

Eliminating the "zoom" factor for large trucks
by Andrew Austin
A proposal to slow heavy transport trucks will soon be law in Ontario.
Speed limiters, or governors, are built-in microchips that stop a truck's engine from exceeding a preset speed. These are often installed during the initial construction of the trucks. |
If the amendment to Bill 43 (also known as The Highway Traffic Act) passes, older vehicles will either have to have one installed, or they will be retired. Quebec has been considering implementing the same sort of legislation.
The device allows trucks to travel a few kilometres per hour faster than 400 series highway speed limits of 100 km/h so that truck drivers have the ability to pass slower vehicles.
