Identity cards ignore human rights

Biometrics, Totalitarian society, Identity Security; these are very big words, evoked by a little information card.


The idea of using a Canadian identity card has been mooted for years. The question is, do we really need to replace our present forms of identity verification cards with mandatory national ID cards or are the present cards working fine?

The ID card is a small plastic card no bigger than a driver's licence or health card. What information is actually proposed to go onto these identity cards is still unclear. The government may want everything from blood type to shoe size. It might include things such as favourite food or children's names. More
