Aging Parents: A project dedicated to persons with disabilities and their aging parents
By Drew Gordon
The Johnson family lives in Cobourg, Ontario. They are just like any other family, except for Vicky. Vicky Johnson is 47 years old, and she has a neurological disorder. Her parents, Bill and Lois, are faced with the prospect of Vicky having to leave the community she has become so fond of once they are gone.
Keystone House offers hope for the Johnson family. To date they are the only option for people with intellectual disabilities in Northumberland county whose parents are no longer able to care for them – but, they are not yet built. This story follows a day in the life of Bill and Lois Johnson.
